Book Review – Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi

Hey lovely readers!

Today’s post is going to be a review of Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi, the much anticipated fourth book in the Shatter Me Series!

“Juliette Ferrars thought she’d won. She took over Sector 45, was named the new Supreme Commander, and now has Warner by her side. But she’s still the girl with the ability to kill with a single touch—and now she’s got the whole world in the palm of her hand. When tragedy hits, who will she become? Will she be able to control the power she wields and use it for good?”

Okay let’s get started! There will be no spoilers in this since the book only came out a few days ago. So wow I mean I kind of lost it after this book in a really good way! It was such a beautiful story in the way it was written and the language used. I swear sometimes it felt lyrical, which is just amazing. This book is told from both Juliette’s and Warner’s perspectives which I am all for because I am a huge Warner fan.

Now as far as the story itself I really enjoyed seeing these characters in such precarious positions. When we last saw them they had just experienced life changing events and it’s interesting to see where their heads are with everything. But I have to be honest, I was much more interested in Warner than Juliette at least in the beginning. I know, I know, but let me tell you why. I think Warner is going through something extremely personal in this book. Whereas with Juliette this whole world of the reestablishment is brand new to her. Towards the end of the book both characters made really big steps towards change, but again I found myself drawn towards Warner. I felt like he had better reasoning for his choices and his short comings. And when he decides to make a change and be more honest and open it is because he realizes how misguided he’s been.

Juliette just kind of pissed me off the whole time. I realize that she’s young, but I felt that she was a little naive and petulant. True by the end of the book she’s made some major changes, but I feel like she didn’t really make them for the right reasons. There was personal growth, but it seemed a bit negative to me. Like she thought she had to do certain things to be taken seriously. She was acting based on what she felt was an act of betrayal. I don’t know if that’s how it was meant to come off, but for me it did. I do think there is a ton of potential in the next book for things to get extremely personal for Juliette. And I definitely think we’ll see some much needed positive personal growth for her.

I really loved Kenji in this book. He provided some much needed comic relief. But we also got to see his more serious side and learn a bit about his past which was awesome. Castle mostly irritated me hahaha and Adam made me really proud! Basically this book gave me all the feels and honestly it’s now become one of my favorite YA novels. And okay obvs the amazing sexy scenes between Warnette are a huge part of that. The way these two love each other is so beautiful to me. It’s pure, raw, and so so real. Warner has got to be one of the most well written YA characters I have ever had the pleasure of reading about. That boy deserves all the good things life has to offer and I hope he gets them. If you haven’t read this yet you are absolutely missing out. And if you have read it I definitely want to know your thoughts!

You by Switchfoot on repeat for this one. Seriously this song screamed Warner to me, give it a listen. And check out my spotify playlist for the series here .

Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
