Hey lovely readers!
Today’s post is a book review of I Dare You by Ilsa Madden-Mills
“Badass Athlete: I dare you to… Delaney Shaw: Who is this?
The late night text is random, but “Badass Athlete” sure seems to know who she is…
Delaney Shaw. Good girl. Lover of fluffy kitties and Star Wars. Curious. His dare? Spend one night in his bed—a night he promises will be unforgettable—and she can solve the mystery of who he is. She knows she shouldn’t, but what else is she going to do with her boring Valentine’s Day? One sexy hook-up later, her mind is blown and the secret’s out.
Maverick Monroe. Bad boy. The most talented football player in the country.
Just ask him. Too bad for him Delaney’s sworn off dating athletes forever after her last heartbreak. But Maverick wants more than one night and refuses to give up on winning Delaney’s heart. She isn’t one to be fazed by a set of broad shoulders. Will the bad boy land the nerd girl or will the secrets they keep from each other separate them forever?”
Well this book honestly has my thoughts in a jumble! I mean I liked it, I really did. So I’ll start with that. First, the dedication was adorable, dedicated to us nerdy girls! Lovers of Star Wars and The Princess Bride. I loved it! I also really loved Delaney, because she isn’t quite typical. She’s a nerdy quiet girl, but she loves a challenge and she is pretty damn confident. I don’t mind those female characters who need some reassurance, because we all need that sometimes. But it is nice to read about a female character who is very self-assured.
And then Maverick, he was just the best. I absolutely loved how he stepped up for his sister even if it killed him. I completely understood his choice of actions and why he kept Delaney at arms length at times. He’s used to handling things on his own. I could really relate to that. And him quoting Westley to Delaney ummm yes please! As you wish ❤ Yup I was a goner then.
I will say that I was a bit disappointed by the length of this book. I think a few more chapters would have done it some good. And I really hate the synopsis for this. It is not accurate at all, like how did they come up with that? Other than that I really enjoyed this book and I definitely recommend it! Another fun, sexy, yet heartfelt contemporary!
Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
