Hey lovely readers!
Today’s post is a book review of What Doesn’t Destroy Us by M.N. Forgy
“When Dani’s sheltered life is turned upside down by her mother’s secrets, she finds protection with her estranged outlaw father. Against all warnings, she falls for bad boy biker, Shadow. He is beast and beauty sealed in a leather cut with a gun holster. Can Dani learn to live within the Club rules? Is she more like her father than she could imagine?
Shadow has grown up among drug addicts, whores and murderers. The only family he’s ever trusted has been the Devil’s Dust motorcycle club. He will do anything for a brother; even kill. In fact, killing is so easy, he’s made a career of it. His one regret is not being able to kill his own worthless mother. When Dani shows up with her provocative temper and innocent charm, Shadow begins to question his violent lifestyle. But can he trust her with his demons?
Sex. Blood. Betrayal.
Will Dani and Shadow let family ties destroy them?
I absolutely love a good motorcycle romance. I read so many last year after I binged the entire Sons of Anarchy series in like a month (yup, I’m one of those crazy people who watches a TV season a week). But then I struggled to find one I liked after reading so many, until I found this author. And now I’m obsessed….again! So a little about the series itself. There are currently 5 books in the series, with the first 2 focusing on Dani and Shadow. I devoured these books, they are so addictive and filled with all of the drama and angst I could ever want!
But in all seriousness. I was so surprised by this book in the best way. Dani has never felt right, she’s never really felt like she belongs. And then she meets her father and things begin to make sense. It can’t be an easy thing to go through life feeling as if you don’t really know who you are. I think we all feel lost sometimes and this book and Dani’s character speaks to that in a beautiful way. I honestly don’t know much about the culture of motorcycle clubs, but I find the world and the dynamics fascinating. This story just sucks you in, while at the same time makes you feel on edge.
The twist in this one completely shocked me and broke my heart. But it just made me want to read the next book that much more. Shadow is your very typical alpha male, possessive, closed off man. And at times I just wanted to punch his stupid macho face. But honestly I loved the entire story and all the characters. But most of all I absolutely loved the dynamic between Dani and her dad. I loved watching their relationship grow. If you’re in the mood for a good motorcycle romance, definitely grab this one ❤
Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
