Hey lovely readers!
Another discussion post comin’ at ya! But this one’s a bit different. It’s fun and funny, with a touch of serious. Because boys with brown eyes are sexy too dammit! 🙂
Boys with Brown Eyes Are Sexy Too
Why does every boy in every book have blue, green, or grey eyes? “He had eyes as blue as the ocean” or “his eyes were the color of the sky on a stormy day.” I can’t even remember how many times those exact descriptions have been used in books. And all I’ve ever wanted is to read about a book boy with warm brown eyes the color of chocolate. I don’t know about you, but that’s way more appealing than “his eyes were like two shining emeralds.” I would be delighted to read about a book boy with brown eyes.
I have brown eyes and I feel largely underrepresented in books. I just want to scream to all the authors; hey the majority of the human population has brown eyes. Where’s our recognition. So I say to all of the authors out there: brown eyes are sexy too. These days so much importance is placed on diversity, uniqueness, inclusion. It’s important that everyone finds themselves represented in books. But now it seems that the characteristics given to characters that were unique 10 years are now quite commonplace. Every book boy has freaking grey eyes, green eyes blue eyes. Ugh. Brown eyes are virtually non-existent in the book world, and what a shame that is. This is precisely why I gave the male character in my book brown eyes, brown eyes like my husband, brown eyes like every boy I ever dated, brown eyes like every man in my family.
Eyes that are unique are beautiful, but brown eyes are beautiful too. And that’s the thing; there are so many different shades of brown. Deep and dark, warm and rich there are so many ways in which brown eyes can be beautiful. Brown eyes can be soulful, they can be lust filled, they can be angry, they can be full of love.
Boys with brown eyes are sexy too. That is all.
Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
