Book Review – Reckless King (Kings of Rittenhouse #2) by Maya Hughes

Hey lovely readers!

Today’s post is a book review of Reckless King by Maya Hughes. Thanks to Maya for providing me with an ARC to review. All opinions are my own.

reckless king“Heath Taylor. Laid back. Easy going. Fastest guy on two skates and chill to a fault, at least that’s what they say. Until Kara.
Three nights together and I’m done for. Her laugh, her smile, the way my hand curves around her waist. She’s the one. Not a doubt in my mind…until I walk into my last class of the semester.
Kara, the woman of my dreams, is my new instructor. My hockey season and her career prospects are on the line. One false move–if anyone finds out–we’re both sunk.
On the ice I’m a beast that can’t be stopped, but thoughts of her are throwing me off my game. My fingers itch to feel her in my arms again. But risking everything could ruin what we’ve worked so hard for.
Life has a way of changing the best laid plans. And sometimes you can’t stay away no matter the promises you make.”

This book was like a punch in the gut in the best way! Maya has such a knack for making you feel as if you know her characters personally. Heath is a minor character in the first book of this series, and I was so excited that he got his own book. He has a depth to him that is so much more evident now that he is a main character. I also love that this is a hockey romance, there really aren’t enough of those!

So as far as Heath and Kara, I really enjoyed their relationship. They have instant chemistry and you can’t help but root for them from the beginning. Heath’s past really makes you feel for him and I liked that Kara has a rough relationship with her birth mother. I love the way Maya writes characters with depth ❤ And honestly the twist in this book just about broke my heart. I seriously did not see it coming and OMG my heart hurts. The angst in the book was soooo good! I did have a small issue with the pacing in this one. The second half of the book was a bit slow. But it definitely picked up towards the end and I loved the epilogues so so much. I already can’t wait for the next book!

Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
