Hey lovely readers!
It’s Wednesday and you know what that means….recommendation time! It’s been quite awhile since my last recommendation list. So let’s get to the books for this week!
Fallen Crest High by Tijan
“Mason and Logan Kade are two brothers who did their own thing. They were rich and expected to attend her school, Fallen Crest Academy. They chose public school and now Samantha has to live with them. The problem is that she doesn’t care at all: about them, about her friends, about her cheating boyfriend, or even about her parent’s divorce. But maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe change is a good thing.”
Okay so this series is incredibly addicting! I found it one day on Amazon and read all 6 books in like a week! The first 4 books take place in high school and the last 2 in college. It starts with Sam and Logan in their junior year and Mason as a senior. It has hot boys, parties, football, and more parties! Everything you could want in a high school romance book. Full honesty, I really couldn’t stand Sam at first. But I do enjoy her character growth throughout the series. Mason and Logan are just amazing! The way they take care of Sam is just so great and the 3 of them together, I just love it. Seriously you have to try this series, it’s like a cheesy soap opera, so addicting and so good!
Off Limits by Chloe Walsh
“Adriana is the privileged daughter of business mogul, Clive Davis, and town socialite, Liv. Blessed with wealth, beauty, and a football hero older brother, to the outside world Andi looks like the quintessential daddy’s little rich girl, but looks can be deceiving.
The truth is Andi’s life is far from perfect…
Placed on a pedestal by her absentee parents, and forbidden to date, Andi’s world consists of school, studying and books. Lonely and caged, she focuses all of her attention and desires on the one boy above all others who is off limits to her – her brother’s best friend, troublemaker Nathan Cole. Andi has had a crush on Nathan since forever, and when her brother suggests she play the role of Nate’s fake girlfriend, her feelings for him only intensify…”
Seriously are you even surprised by a Chloe Walsh appearance? You guys know I love her, she’s seriously the best! So this book is the first in a series of 3 about Andi and Nate and is my favorite of Chloe’s books. Probably because it’s the first book of hers that I ever read. This book is adorable, I mean brothers best friend? Best friend’s little sister? Total romance cliche, but so well done! Nate is one of my all time favorite book boys, he’s strong, determined, and so loyal. And Andi, well I love that we have the same name lol and I just love watching become such a strong confident woman. Andi and Nate are perfect for each other and though their path isn’t easy, they stay true through it all ❤
Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas
“We were perfect together. Until we met.”
I can’t help but smile at the words in her letter. She misses me.
In fifth grade, my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student, Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed.
It didn’t take long for us to figure out the mistake. And in no time at all, we were arguing about everything. The best take-out pizza. Android vs. iPhone. Whether or not Eminem is the greatest rapper ever…
And that was the start. For the next seven years, it was us. Her letters are always on black paper with silver writing. Sometimes there’s one a week or three in a day, but I need them. She’s the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am. We only had three rules. No social media, no phone numbers, no pictures. We had a good thing going. Why ruin it? Until I run across a photo of a girl online. Name’s Ryen, loves Gallo’s pizza, and worships her iPhone. What are the chances? F*ck it. I need to meet her. I just don’t expect to hate what I find.
He hasn’t written in three months. Something’s wrong. Did he die? Get arrested? Knowing Misha, neither would be a stretch. Without him around, I’m going crazy. I need to know someone is listening. It’s my own fault. I should’ve gotten his number or picture or something. He could be gone forever. Or right under my nose, and I wouldn’t even know it.”
I know, I know again? But omg this book just struck a cord with me. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking and honest and raw. I won’t go into too much detail, because I’ve already gushed about this book enough. If you want to know more check out my full review here.
Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines (Field Party #1)
“To everyone who knows him, West Ashby has always been that guy: the cocky, popular, way-too-handsome-for-his-own-good football god who led Lawton High to the state championships. But while West may be Big Man on Campus on the outside, on the inside he’s battling the grief that comes with watching his father slowly die of cancer.
Two years ago, Maggie Carleton’s life fell apart when her father murdered her mother. And after she told the police what happened, she stopped speaking and hasn’t spoken since. Even the move to Lawton, Alabama, couldn’t draw Maggie back out. So she stayed quiet, keeping her sorrow and her fractured heart hidden away.
As West’s pain becomes too much to handle, he knows he needs to talk to someone about his father—so in the dark shadows of a post-game party, he opens up to the one girl who he knows won’t tell anyone else.
West expected that talking about his dad would bring some relief, or at least a flood of emotions he couldn’t control. But he never expected the quiet new girl to reply, to reveal a pain even deeper than his own—or for them to form a connection so strong that he couldn’t ever let her go…”
If you haven’t read Abbi Glines books you are really missing out. She is an expert at writing the perfect love story. This book really surprised me, because while it does have your typical high school romance elements: parties, football games, pep rallies, it is about so much more. West and Maggie are both in so much pain. They are both dealing with unimaginable loss and they’re both so lost. But when they find each other they find comfort and understanding, something they both thought they’d never have. I have to commend Abbi for writing such a beautiful story.
Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles (Perfect Chemistry #1
“When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created ‘perfect’ life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she’s worked so hard for: her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect.
Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.”
If you like stories about star-crossed lovers, this one’s for you! I actually read it because it depicts an interracial relationship and the problems they face. It’s something I identify with personally being a Mexican-American woman married to a Caucasian man. Yes even these days we still deal with prejudiced ignorant people. I even dealt with the same crap in high school with my high school sweetheart who was also Caucasian. So I was excited by a story that depicted some of what I’ve experienced in my own life and I was not disappointed. Brittany and Alex prove that love has no boundaries and that is a beautiful thing. This book gives you an honest look into the lives of so many young Hispanic men and the troubles they face. And it shines a light on the harsh truth of the racism and prejudices that still exist today. This book is the first of 3 in a series, all set in high school, and all dealing with interracial romances.
That’s it guys, 5 high school romance recommendations! I hope you find you’re new favorite book!
Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
