Hey lovely readers!
Here’s a book review for you!
” Rylan
Guilty. ExCon. Felon. Prisoner. Criminal.
Words that now represent me.
Words that keep any decent person away from me.
I never gave much thought to words before now.
Channing
Slut. Hussy. Whore. Homewrecker. Jezebel.
Words that now reflect me.
Words that will stay indefinitely.
The evidence of those words grow inside of me.
Those words make the entire town assume they are vindicated to use them.
I am wrong. They are right.”
Alright sooo, what to say about this one? Despite the title it was actually a pretty lighthearted and subtly funny read. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but I think I was prepared for really dark romance. And I was definitely happy it wasn’t too dark, because I needed a fluffier read haha.
I have to say that I enjoyed this book so so much, but my favorite relationship was actually not between Rylan and Channing, but between Rylan and his cousin Wyatt. Only a few chapters into the book Wyatt offers Rylan a helping hand after he gets out of prison and it literally made me break down in tears. You could already tell at this point that Rylan was trying to be a better man and to see someone so willing to help him do that just made me so happy.
Okay now on to the story of Rylan and Channing. I will say, that the story is a bit insta-love, which I don’t usually enjoy. But with this story it made a bit more sense, because Rylan has a very specific reason for why he becomes involved in Channing’s life. I really felt for Channing in this book. In the beginning she’s naive enough to fall in love with a man who has no intention of catching her so to speak. At times I wanted to be angry at her for how clueless she sometimes seemed. But then I got to thinking about how at 18 all I wanted was for someone to love me.
It seems silly to say that now, but it’s absolutely the truth. My childhood wasn’t always great and so I can imagine myself in Channing’s place, looking for love in a place it would never be. But anyway! I just really enjoyed the overall feel of this book. It conveyed some very important life lessons while still managing to feel light and easy. I think all of the relationships in this book were so great, romantic or otherwise and I can’t wait to read more books from this series!
Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
