Hey lovely readers!
Here’s a book review for you!
“Sharing never-before-heard stories ranging from their struggles with depression, eating disorders, and addiction, Karen and Georgia irreverently recount their biggest mistakes and deepest fears, reflecting on the formative life events that shaped them into two of the most followed voices in the nation.
In Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered, Karen and Georgia focus on the importance of self-advocating and valuing personal safety over being ‘nice’ or ‘helpful.’ They delve into their own pasts, true crime stories, and beyond to discuss meaningful cultural and societal issues with fierce empathy and unapologetic frankness.”
Before I tell you guys how much I loved this book, a little background. Karen and Georgia are the hosts of the awesome podcast, My Favorite Murder, a true crime/comedy podcast that finds the two ladies discussing murder cases. If you are unfamiliar with the podcast, I highly recommend giving it a listen. It’s available on places like iTunes and Spotify.
As a fan of the podcast I was so excited to devour this book. It’s a collection of stories and life lessons from both Karen and Georgia. They talk about things like first jobs, boyfriends, their experiences with their siblings, and figuring out what they wanted to do with their lives. The stories are funny, but also full of important life experiences that we’ve all had. Reading this book was like having a chat with two good friends. It’s a book you can absolutely read whether or not you listen to the podcast. But being a fan of the show means you’ll appreciate a few more of the inside jokes.
Both Karen and Georgia have a way of giving advice and opinions without making you feel like that’s what they’re doing. They are always honest and upfront about their lives and the mistakes they’ve made, They’re also incredibly humble and grateful. You can tell that so much love and heart went into this book. It was just so much fun to read and did I mention how much I loved the chapter titles?
Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
