Book Review – Ride (A Wild Novel) by Harper Dallas

Hey lovely readers!

Here’s a book review for you!

Ride.jpg“Bad boy. Player. Adrenaline junkie. Snowboarder Chase Austin has a reputation—and not just for being the world’s best extreme athlete. He’s as cold as the mountains he rides, loyal only to his crew . . . and panties drop wherever he goes.
Photographer Brooke Larson knows better than to let him get through her emotional Kevlar. So what if she used to have his poster on her bedroom wall? She’s not a teenager with a crush anymore. Chase Austin is her key to the big time, and she’s getting his photo no matter what. Too bad the only place Chase wants her is in his bed. Men leave. Success is forever. Brooke knows the drill, and she’s not letting anyone get in the way of her career—or into her heart. But whether it’s on the slopes or between the sheets, riding with the best means risking it all.”

I’ve definitely found a new author to love with this one. I was scrolling through the Kindle store and this cover just popped out at me. OMG this book was just so good. A totally spontaneous read that has now become a favorite. I love my sports romance, but this is the first time I’ve come across one that focuses on snowboarding. Now I want all the boarding romances haha. And bonus, the girl snowboards too!

I have to say, there was not one thing, one character, one plot point that I didn’t like about this book. It all fit, it all made sense, it all had a purpose. I definitely identify with both Chase and Brooke. Brooke is guarded with good reason: her dad left, her boyfriend left, why should she trust any man? Seriously, preach girl. I have serious trust issues when it comes to men thanks to my dad. And it took hubs awhile to get past my walls. So I appreciated Brooke’s point of view. I also loved that she loved snowboarding. And that not only was she good, but that she was able to keep up with Chase. Any book in which the guy and girl are evenly matched is an instant love for me.

And then there’s Chase, oh that broken baby. I felt so bad for him. Blaming himself for this beyond his control and trying not to fall for Brooke, because he’s afraid he’ll lose her. You know it’s funny, when I tell people I mainly read romance they always ask me why. Why would I want to read something so unrealistic? Why would I want to read books that give me false hope for life? (Yes these are actual questions I’ve been asked). I’m always surprised, because I find romance novels to be some of the most real out there in terms of the harshness of life. They always depict characters who have been through hardships and through love, faith, and trust come out the other side a better version of themselves. If that isn’t real, I don’t know what is? I think that’s why I loved this book so much. It was the perfect mix of fun and serious. The love story just sucks you in and the snowboarding is just so much fun to read about! I dare you not to love this one 😉

Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
