Hey lovely readers!
Here’s another book review for you. The fourth and final book in the Hell Night Series.
Trigger warnings for child sexual abuse and assault.
“Death. Destruction. Pain. A soulless void. It’s his life. It’s his reality. Emo doesn’t feel. Anything. His soul is dark and filled with hatred. People in the small town of Malus watch him with fear, with reverence. Exactly the way he prefers it.
Guilt surrounds him, caging him in an ominous past he refuses to let go. Can’t let go. His past is responsible for the shell of the man who now exists. He doesn’t know any other way to survive.
The woman who haunts his dreams is his only salvation. He’s hurt her over and over again. He didn’t have a choice. The key he holds on to, the one he uses to carve into his flesh, is the key to his hell. It’s his reminder of the pain he’s suffered and inflicted.
Will there be retribution? Can Emo be saved? Or is he destined to live in this dark hell he’s surrounded himself in for the rest of his life?”
We finally get Emo’s story and honestly I was so scared. I was excited to see if he could overcome his demons, but teriffied to face it all at the same time. Emo is the most damaged and broken of his brothers, because unlike them he never got a break from his abuse. He waa traumatized by his father did to him and made him do to Trouble’s sister Rella.
Emo hates himself, he seems to hate life, and he feels guilty every single day, because Rella took her own life at age 10. But when she shows up after 24 years, he has a chance to be forgiven. This book was the darkest of all the stories, the most painful, but the most beautiful in terms of healing.
Rella lived through her suicide attempt, but her life only got worse from there. And she’s as damaged and broken as Emo. She hates being close to anyone, hates being touched. Except for Emo. Though he feels he has no right to be near her because of what they did as children. Despite that, they begin to realize they might be the only people who can help one another chase their darkness away.
But there’s one more demon they have to face. A secret that Emo has been keeping for years. And let me tell you, the resolution to this awful secret is so satisfying. The resolution to Emo and Rella’s story and really the whole series was so wonderful and beautiful. Especially after all the sadness, trauma, and devastation. I really just fell in love with this whole series and all of the characters. It was a hard read, but so good!
Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
