Book Review – The Wives by Tarryn Fisher

Hey lovely readers!

Here’s a book review for you. I think 2020 is going to be the year I read all the thrillers and this one was awesome.

“Imagine that your husband has two other wives.

You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, and because of this unconventional arrangement, you can see your husband only one day a week. But you love him so much you don’t care. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself.

But one day, while you’re doing laundry, you find a scrap of paper in his pocket—an appointment reminder for a woman named Hannah, and you just know it’s another of the wives.

You thought you were fine with your arrangement, but you can’t help yourself: you track her down, and, under false pretenses, you strike up a friendship. Hannah has no idea who you really are. Then, Hannah starts showing up to your coffee dates with telltale bruises, and you realize she’s being abused by her husband. Who, of course, is also your husband. But you’ve never known him to be violent, ever.

Who exactly is your husband, and how far would you go to find the truth? Would you risk your own life? And who is his mysterious third wife?”

Alright so yeah let’s just jump in. First of this book has triggers for miscarriage, possible domestic abuse, and a very very brief mention of attempted suicide. And second, this review will be spoiler free!

This book is so simple on the surface. But it delves deep into the dynamics of marriage and friendship and just how far a woman might go to make her husband happy. And before I continue, how about we don’t judge women for who they choose to be. I’ve already seen a few reviews bashing the MC for how she acts towards her husband. You know what? Just don’t. I mean I don’t agree either, but I’m so tired of judgmental people. OK mini rant over. Back to the review!

If you want a good mystery, this is it. Thursday becomes curious about her husband’s other wives and her curiosity leads her somewhere she never expected.

Who are the other wives? Who really is their husband? And if Thursday digs too deep, what will she uncover? I loved this book. Because what a crazy freaking dynamic. Honestly every chapter throws you a new twist and it seriously feels like you’re in Thursday’s head. And you are never sure exactly what is true and what isn’t. Can the wives be trusted and what is Seth hiding?

Total honesty, I saw the major twist coming. But it was still so good. Plus someone pretty unexpected plays a key role in how it all ends that I did not see coming. Such a good book that I want to read again just to see what I may have missed before! Also is it just me or did anyone else miss that her name is actually Thursday? Or was that supposed to be a surprise? Because I was shook! 😂

Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon! ❤ Adrianna
